I'm Huma Imtiaz (pronouns: she/hers) and I'm running to serve as commissioner for (the newly redrawn) ANC5E04. I've lived in Bloomingdale since 2013 and am grateful for the opportunity to serve this wonderful community that we get to call home. I’m originally from Pakistan and have lived in Washington, D.C., since 2011. I’m an avid runner, a slow cyclist (that First Street hill gets me each time), and a newbie swimmer.  In addition to my day job as a communications professional, I currently serve as the president of the volunteer-run executive committee of the LeDroit Park Community Garden, which serves residents of Bloomingdale, LeDroit Park and surrounding neighborhoods. I've been endorsed by Erin Palmer, DC Voters for Animals, and Greater Greater Washington!

Paid for by Huma Imtiaz, 150 V Street NW V308, Washington DC 200001

ANC5E04 CAMPAIGN UPDATE: WEEKEND EDITION

What a week of glorious weather we've had! The drop in temperature and humidity means that I can have a conversation outside without having to spray myself down with copious amounts of bug spray every 10 minutes (the mosquitoes love me, what can I say).

Updates, updates, updates!

It is a little more than three weeks from when I announced I was running for ANC! It has been an incredible experience so far and am so energized by all the great conversations I've had with neighbors so far.

ALSO -- we have POSTCARDS! Look out for one in your mailbox soon -- it'll have a barcode at the back that will lead you right back to this website!

KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR! My goal is to knock on every door in 5E04 from now until Election Day. I am making my way block my block and am very eager to hear from you on what your priorities are for the area and the issues that matter most to you.

ON THE BALLOT! D.C. Board of Elections has determined that I've met the qualifications to appear on the ballot in the November general election! Once again, huge huge thanks to everyone who signed the petition.

And while it feels like summer just began, Labor Day is just around the corner! And the campaign countdown continues. The D.C. Board of Elections has posted key election-related dates!

First and foremost: make sure you are registered to vote and that your voter registration data is up-to-date.

And then mark these dates on your calendar!

October 3: DC BOE begins sending mail-in ballots to all registered voters

October 14: Mail Ballot Drop Boxes open!

October 31 to November 6: Early voting period

 November 8: General Election Day

November 15: Deadline for DCBOE to receive voted Absentee Ballots.

I'll send out an updated map of closest Ward 5 mail ballot drop boxes and voting centers when they are confirmed too.

Also-- on Saturday, August 27, I’ll be at the Ward 5 Open Streets in the morning starting 11am -- come by and say hi!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I hope to meet you soon!
